About this directory
Built by a collector, for collectors who've had the same frustration: finding a dealer you can actually trust is harder than it should be.
Why I built this
I've been collecting coins for over 20 years. Started with a jar of wheat pennies my grandfather left me, and it spiraled from there: Morgan dollars, Walking Liberty halves, early American coppers, the whole rabbit hole.
One problem kept coming up: finding a legitimate coin dealer in an unfamiliar city is genuinely difficult. You search online and get a mix of pawn shops, gold-buying kiosks, Google Maps listings with no useful info, and directories where you can't tell what's paid placement and what's real. I'd drive across town to a "coin shop" that turned out to be a guy buying scrap gold out of a cell phone store.
I wanted a single resource that answered the real questions before you walk in the door: Do they actually buy coins, or just bullion? Do they do appraisals? Are they NGC-authorized? What are their hours? I couldn't find it, so I built it.
How we verify every listing
Every dealer in this directory is checked against at least one authoritative source before it goes live. That means the NGC dealer locator, the dealer's own website, or both.
- 1NAP verification. Name, address, and phone are confirmed against the source. If we can't verify a phone number independently, the listing stays noindex until we can.
- 2Certification cross-check. NGC-authorized status is verified directly against the NGC dealer locator and linked to the source page. We never self-certify.
- 3Services from the dealer's own words. When a dealer has a website, services and specialties are pulled from what they actually say about themselves, not from AI-generated summaries.
- 4Google ratings are attributed, not claimed. Star ratings and review counts shown on listings come from Google and are labeled as such. We don't display them as our own editorial ratings.
What we don't do
No pay-to-rank
Dealers can't pay to appear higher in results. Order is based on verification status, ratings, and data completeness, not payment.
No AI filler
We don't generate promotional copy about dealers. If we can't verify something from a real source, we don't say it.
No affiliation disclaimers buried in fine print
We're not affiliated with PCGS, NGC, ANA, or CAC. Their logos appear only when a dealer has that certification.
No fake reviews
We don't collect or display our own reviews. The only ratings you'll see are Google's aggregated data, attributed to Google.
Current coverage
We're building this state by state, and we only publish a state once we have verified dealers to show. Right now we have coverage in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida, with more states in progress. The goal isn't to list every business that has ever used the word "coin", but to build something a serious collector can actually rely on.
